Foreign Minister to Visit New York, Philippines and Maldives

Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman is set to embark on an overseas tour from July 10 to July 29, beginning with a visit to New York to prepare for his responsibilities related to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

According to officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the minister will spend most of his nearly 20-day tour in New York, where he will hold meetings with senior United Nations officials to discuss preparations for the 81st session of the General Assembly, including its management and the work programme leading up to its opening in September.

The 81st Session of the UN General Assembly is scheduled to commence on September 8. During his stay in New York, Dr. Rahman will focus on preparations for assuming responsibilities associated with the upcoming session.

The Foreign Minister is scheduled to depart Dhaka for New York on Friday, July 10.

Following his engagements in the United States, Dr. Rahman will travel to Manila, the Philippines, to attend the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF). He will then visit the Maldives as part of his official itinerary.

The Foreign Minister is expected to return to Bangladesh from Malé on July 30, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
