LGED demands transparency in recruitment of LCS workers in Manda Naogaon. Human bonds of the unworthy

M Rezaul Islam, Naogaon :: Recruitment of daily wage based Labor Contracting Society (LCS) workers under Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in Manda Upazila of Naogaon has been done through lottery based on transparency following government rules. 

However, some applicants who were considered ineligible and excluded from the legitimate recruitment process formed a human chain on Sunday (July 12) and raised questions about the recruitment process. 

According to upazila LGED office sources, 137 women applied according to the recruitment circular. After verification, 54 applications were considered valid. Later, 16 women were initially selected through lottery following the government rules in the Upazila Parishad meeting room on the scheduled date.

According to LGED, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Akhtar Jahan Sathi, Upazila Engineer Abdul Quader, Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Engineer Ariful Islam, Manda Upazila BNP President and Kusumba Union Parishad Chairman Naufel Ali Mondal, Paranpur Union Parishad Panel Chairman Ataur Rahman, petitioners and officials of various government departments were present in the lottery ceremony.  

The date, time and venue of the lottery were mentioned in advance in the recruitment circular and the whole process was carried out accordingly.

Upazila Engineer Abdul Quader said that workers were selected through lottery following government guidelines and rules. The entire process was completed transparently in front of the concerned officials, applicants and everyone present

In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Akhtar Jahan Sathi said, the upazila engineer can tell the details about the verification of application forms. I attended the lottery ceremony. Besides, Project Implementation Officer Engineer Ariful Islam, Upazila Engineer Abdul Quader, Kusumba Union Parishad Chairman Naufel Ali Mandal, Paranpur Union Panel Chairman Ataur Rahman were also present. Lottery activities were completed as per the government rules in the presence of all.Earlier on July 10, there were complaints about LCS labor recruitment in various media and social media. Following this, some applicants who were excluded from the recruitment on Sunday formed a human chain and questioned the transparency of the lottery.
