MP Babul’s explanation in protest against news published on the cost of inspection rooms

Neon Dulal, Lalmonirhat:: A protest and explanation has been given for news published in several media outlets regarding the cost of the inspection room of Md. Rokon Uddin Babul, Member of Parliament for Lalmonirhat-2 (Aditmari-Kaliganj) constituency.

A press release published on the MP’s verified Facebook page on Wednesday (July 22) claimed that the news was misleading, incomplete and purposeful.

The press release said that the allocation of 6 lakh taka is not the only source of funds for the establishment or renovation of the inspection room in the Upazila Parishad. According to the government directive dated April 21, 2026 of the Local Government Department, such development expenses can also be met from the ADP of the Upazila administration, the revenue sector or other legitimate sources. Accordingly, it is claimed that the renovation and development activities of the inspection room of Aditmari Upazila Parishad have been completed following government rules and regulations.

The notification further stated that the photo used in the news is not of the Aditmari Upazila Parishad inspection room but was taken at the MP’s personal residence. It was claimed that the news was misleading as it used a photo of another place instead of the actual inspection room.

The press release also mentioned that the furniture used in the inspection room was supplied by a reputable company in the country and purchased following an approved estimate and administrative process.

It is also claimed that while the news alludes to serious allegations such as ‘irregularities’ and ‘self-indulgence’, no government investigation report, audit report, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigation, or observations of relevant authorities have been presented in support of this.

The press release urged the media outlets concerned to verify government documents and information from relevant authorities before publishing news. It also requested them to publish necessary corrections to the published news.

The press release mentioned that MP Md. Rokon Uddin Babul urged the public to verify real information and government documents without being influenced by any kind of rumors or misleading information.
