Abul Hossain:: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita said at the freshman reception in Manikganj that the development of any nation or state is not possible without patriotism. A true patriot can never be corrupt.
She said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the freshman reception of first-year undergraduate (honors) students at Government Devendra College in Manikganj on Sunday (July 26, 2026).
The minister said that only if the country is good will we be good. Martyred President Ziaur Rahman taught us the lesson of patriotism. Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia taught us to be uncompromising against injustice. There can never be compromise with injustice; we must work with honesty and integrity. And Prime Minister and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman gave directions to build a humane, social and people-friendly state.β
He also said, βIn the past, the country did not achieve the desired development. Now is the opportunity to take the country forward. If we can hold these three ideals of patriotism, honesty and a firm stand against injustice, we will never go astray and will be able to take the country forward to the desired goal.β
Principal of Government Devendra College Dr. Mahfil Khan presided over the program. Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj Nazmun Ara Sultana, District Council Administrator Advocate Jamilur Rashid Khan and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Alam were present as special guests.
In addition, District Chhatra Dal President Abdul Khalek Shuvo, General Secretary Sirajul Rahman Khan and District President of Islami Chhatra Shibir Mahbubur Rahman spoke.
People from different classes and professions including college teachers, students, guardians were present at the program.
