9 individuals and 1 organization receive Shilpakala Academy awards in Lalmonirhat

Neon Dulal, Lalmonirhat :: In recognition of their contributions to various fields of art and culture in Lalmonirhat, the District Shilpakala Academy Awards-2025 and 2026 have been presented. This award was given to nine talented artists and one cultural organization in various fields as a two-year honor.

The district administration and the District Shilpakala Academy organized an award ceremony at the city’s Circuit House on Friday (October 9) night. Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu MP was the chief guest. The ceremony was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Rashidul Islam Pradhan.

Among others present at the event were District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Islam, Police Superintendent Asaduzzaman, District Shilpakala Academy Cultural Officer Hamidur Rahman and people from different walks of life.

The honored artists are Chittaranjan Roy and Touhidul Islam Chanchal in vocal music, Md. Abdus Salam Rana in musical theatre, Upen Chandra Roy and Md. Ataur Rahman in folk culture, Suknal and Shikil Shyam Roy in instrumental music, and Pizus Kumar Das and Mukul Chandra Das in drama.

In addition, the Jaltaranga Cultural Group of Barabari, Lalmonirhat, received the award in recognition of its contribution to creative cultural activities. The organization was established on April 1, 1989.

In his speech as the chief guest, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu said, “Art and culture are an important part of a nation’s history, tradition and identity. Through the creativity and pursuit of artists, human values ​​are awakened in society and the new generation gets the opportunity to get acquainted with its own culture. If talented artists are given due respect and recognition, cultural practices will develop further.”

He further said that the artists and cultural organizations of Lalmonirhat are playing an important role in enriching the cultural heritage of the district. It is necessary to recognize their contribution and continue such initiatives to encourage the new generation to practice art and culture.
