Khulna Correspondent –The officers and employees of Khulna Palli Bidyut Samity are on an indefinite strike to demand uniform employment rules and regularization of the jobs of workers engaged on temporary basis, along with elimination of fragile distribution system due to pay discrimination, substandard and low quality goods in Palli Bidyut Samity.
Hundreds of officials and employees of all zonal and sub-zonal offices including the main office of the association participated in this work break in front of the main office of Khulna Palli Bidyut Samity for the 4th day on Thursday morning.

The speaker said, “In Bangabandhu’s golden Bengal, there is no place for discrimination”. There cannot be two laws in the same country. The Rural Electrification Board continues to exploit, torture and oppress the societies. Elimination of discrimination and uniform service code by Rural Electrification Boards and Rural Electricity Societies is a must. The protestors said that the program will continue until the demands are met.
At this time, the speakers also said that due to the dual policy of Rural Electrification Board, about 40,000 officers and employees of 80 Rural Electricity Associations of the country are being deprived of various opportunities. Even though the workers engaged in the work of electricity supply in the remote areas of the country are working in the same company, they have been subjected to extreme discrimination in terms of rank, salary, allowance, bonus and promotion.
The speakers also said that the officers and employees of the association have been trying to systematically implement their demands by collecting public signatures and submitting memorandums to the Chairman of the Rural Electrification Board. But the Rural Electrification Board (BREB), which is the regulator of the society, did not accept their demands, but instead suspended two AGMs of Bhola POBs associated with the reverse process, released two AGMs and transferred them to another Palli Bidyut Samity and 1 AGM and one DGM of Sirajganj POBs-2, rural electrification. Meanwhile, despite the agitation since Monday, the agitators said that one manpower is working in each sub-centre to keep the emergency power supply normal.
