Haladhar Das- Six persons, including five unidentified youths, were killed in two separate incidents in Raipura, Narsingdi. On Monday (July 8) around 5:30 am, five youths died in Khakchak area on the west side of Methikanda railway station area of the upazila and one person died in Srirampur railway gate area on the east side of Methikanda railway station of the same upazila. Six people died in separate incidents.
The identities of the five youths who were killed by the train have not been revealed. 4 of them are believed to be aged between 20 and 25 years and one is believed to be 30/35 years old. Later, the bodies scattered on the railway line were recovered by the railway police. According to the railway police, five youths fell from the roof of a train leaving Chittagong early in the morning and died.
Afsan Alam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Raipura Circle) of Narsingdi, said that after receiving the news, he came to the spot and found the bodies of five people scattered on the side of the Dhakamukhi railway line. After talking to the locals, no one could identify them. The bodies have been recovered. However, train movement is normal.
Deputy Inspector of Narsingdi Railway Police Outpost (in charge). Shahidullah said that 5 people were killed by the train. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased. We have informed PBI. They will come and start identifying the identity of the victims. The incident is being taken seriously.
Dhaka Railway District Superintendent of Police Md. Anwar Hossain said that the PBI is trying to identify the victims. We are trying but their identity is yet to be identified. We are investigating keeping everything in mind. We are still not sure how it died. Falling from the roof of the train, or standing in line, or sitting in the space between two compartments. Keeping all this in mind, we are continuing the investigation.
Police inspector of PBI Narsingdi Rezaul Karim said, looking at their clothes, it seems that they are marginal people. What is their occupation can be said after identifying the identity. Fingerprints of each of them are collected. But none’s fingerprints matched, suggesting none of them had national identity cards. So their identity cannot be traced.
On the other hand, at 11:40 am on the same day, an unidentified person died after being hit by a train in the Srirampur railway gate area of Raipura town of Narsingdi.
Eyewitnesses said that a person climbed and slept on the railway line in Srirampur Railgate area of Raipura. At that time, his body was cut under the train of the Kalani Express. No one could identify the dead person due to the disfigurement of his face. He is approximately 30 years old. Narsingdi Railway Police is working to recover the body after receiving information.
