Haldhar Das, Narsingdi- Protests and attacks on the peaceful movement of students and citizens across the country
On Saturday (August 3), teachers and students-citizens held a sit-in program on 9-point demand.
The student-citizen agitators of Narsingdi have organized a protest march and sit-in program at the Velanagar Jailkhana intersection of Narsingdi on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway from 3 pm.
Till the latest news, they are carrying out a sit-in program aimed at realizing the 9-point demand. No members of law enforcement were seen around the gathering. However, the police were at a safe distance from the protesters in front of Narsingdi Circuit House.
At the same time, many leaders and activists of affiliated organizations including Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League were seen standing on the platform of Narsingdi railway station.
On the other hand, the teachers of different schools and colleges of Narsingdi held a protest march against the shooting of students across the country, including Narsingdi, and demanding justice for the murder.
On Saturday (August 3) around 12:30 noon, the teachers’ protest march started from the municipal park ground of the city and circled the various roads of the city. At the end of the procession, they went in front of Narsingdi Government College and met in a rally. Later the teachers spoke there.
Meanwhile, the teachers claimed that students are being brutally shot and killed across the country. They cannot be suppressed by repression as opposed to accepting their legitimate demands. Firing on common people including these students should be stopped immediately. And if any students are fired upon, a strict program will be given under the leadership of the teachers. The teachers also said that they will not donate lessons.
