Narsingdi Correspondent- Journalists of various print and electronic media working in the district formed a human chain in connection with the attack and shooting on the Upazila Correspondent of Dainik Desh Panwar newspaper and President of Raipura Reporters Club Moniruzzaman Monir in Raipura of Narsingdi. This human chain was held in front of the Narsingdi Press Club on the initiative of the Narsingdi Journalists Union at around 11:30 on Wednesday (August 14). Journalists of all levels working in the district and upazila condemned this barbaric attack.

Speakers in the human chain said that journalists are the mirror of society. They brought all the injustice and corruption before the people through their pen. In recent times Raipura has become a terrorist sanctuary. Leaders of various political parties in Raipura have been doing various types of oppressive acts including attacks and encroachments on common people. And when they hold a pen against all these injustices, journalists are attacked by terrorists. That’s what happened to Monir, the journalist of the transformation of the country.
Speakers also said that attacks on journalists will not be accepted from now on. Besides, if those involved in the terrorist attack on Monir are not immediately brought under the law, the journalist community of the district will form a Durbar movement along with the civil society.
It is to be noted that on Tuesday (August 14) Moniruzzaman Monir was returning to Upazila Parishad after performing professional duties from Srirampur Bazar in Raipura Upazila. At that time, the terrorists who were coming from the east next to the Srirampur market attacked him. At that time, when journalist Moni entered a shop in self-defence, he was brought out from there, beaten with a hammer and wood and shot several rounds in the leg and hand and escaped. Later, the locals rescued him in a bloody state and first took him to Raipura Upazila Health Complex and later to Dhaka Medical College for advanced treatment
