Obstacles on the Path of the People’s Government

Obstacles on the Path of the People’s Government

On August 5, 2024, the fall of the authoritarian Hasina government marked the beginning of a new chapter in Bangladesh’s political history. In its place, a government supported by the people and comprising a non-political platform has taken charge. This new government, composed of students, university professors, economists, and former bureaucrats, is led by Nobel laureate Dr. Mohammad Yunus. Both within Bangladesh and among the diaspora, there is widespread support for this government, and a renewed hope for building a prosperous Bangladesh.

However, since the change in government, there have been numerous attempts by certain individuals within government and private organizations to create instability and pressure the government by obstructing vital infrastructure in the capital. The recent movement by members of the Ansar, and their unexpected behavior in the Secretariat, seem to be part of a well-coordinated conspiracy aimed at disrupting the government.

It is extremely unfortunate that this new government has not been given any time or opportunity to settle before facing one crisis after another. Illegal funds are being used to incite various groups, pushing them onto the streets and creating unrest. Yesterday’s unauthorized actions by Ansar members at the Secretariat, and today’s gathering of manually operated rickshaw pullers at Shahbagh, are just examples of this ongoing conspiracy.

These incidents clearly show that the same corrupt forces that brought down the previous regime are now using their illegal wealth to destabilize the country once again. Faced with such conspiracies, the new government must proceed with extreme caution and firmness.

In response to these challenges, the current government could consider forming a commission to address and assess the demands presented by various groups. It should be made clear through public announcements that all grievances must be submitted through this commission, without causing disruptions to public life or government operations. Strict restrictions should also be imposed on any rallies, protests, or activities that create obstacles during this period.

We believe that with the support of the people, this government can overcome all obstacles and conspiracies and move the country forward on the path of development. This government, backed by the people, has the potential to fulfill the dream of a just and prosperous Bangladesh, leaving behind the shadow of dictatorship. However, the public must also remain vigilant so that no conspiracy or misinformation can weaken their resolve.

It is through the joint efforts of the government and the general public that any kind of discrimination or conspiracy can be thwarted, allowing the nation to progress towards development. The people’s government must be given time to take effective measures for the country’s progress and prosperity.
