Maisie Williams announced for new BBC project

She is celebrating a Hollywood legend.

DIGITAL SPY–  Former Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams has lined up a fun new project for the BBC.

Maisie will be hosting the BBC Sounds podcast Famously…Winona, a celebration of the life and career of Stranger Things star Winona Ryder.

The latest six-episode instalment of the Famously… podcast series will see the Emmy Award-nominated actor take a deep dive into Winona’s early teen icon status from childhood roles in Heathers and Beetlejuice, through to her 21st-century career renaissance.

Thanks to her starring role in Netflix‘s Stranger Things, Winona won a whole new generation of fans. She’ll next be reuniting with Michael Keaton in the long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Maisie is set to share how her journey of childhood stardom mirrors and differs from Winona’s, as she examines the ways women in Hollywood continue to face dismissal and rejection despite their successes.

“Winona’s always been iconic, but I hope this series gives people a chance to understand her as a person — how she’s always led with empathy, navigated so many hard moments, and pushed female voices to the front,” Maisie said,

BBC Commissioning Executive Louise Kattenhorn added: “The Famously… podcasts tap into our fascination with the lives, loves and trials of celebrities, and we’re excited to bring you this summer binge listen about the remarkable story of actress Winona Ryder.

“We’re even more thrilled to have Maisie Williams tell this story. With her passion for film and candid insight from her own experience as a young actress, as well as her engaging presenting style, she’s the perfect host!”
