Patuakhali – Patuakhali Galachipa and Dashmina-113 Constituency former Member of Parliament SM Shahzada has been booked on charges of ransom money, vandalism and extortion in Patuakhali Speedy Trial Tribunal Court on 29 August 2024.
Md Ashrab Mridha son of deceased Abul Kashem Mridha of Kharija Betagi Dasmina upazila filed the petition case as the plaintiff.
Former member of parliament SM Shahzada is the main accused in the case and names of 8 people are mentioned. Another 20/30 people were named as unnamed accused.

On December 26, 2023 Dasmina Upazila Baharampur Union Adampura Dakhil under the leadership of former Member of Parliament SM Shahzada and his cadre forces vandalized and inhumanely tortured a tenant’s house next to Madrasa during the 12th National Assembly Election-2024. In the national election, SM Shahzada was elected Member of Parliament in Galachipa, Dashmina-113 Constituency.
