Md. Sanaullah Riyad, Barguna – Bangladesh Safe Food Authority is constantly working to ensure safe food to protect people’s lives and health across the country.
In continuation of this, a mobile food safety laboratory was brought to Barguna for the first time.
On this occasion, Bangladesh Safe Food Authority, Barguna District Office organized a short opening ceremony in front of Barguna District Commissioner’s office on Tuesday (October 22).
The Mobile Safe Food Laboratory was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Mohammad Shafiul Alam as the chief guest of the event. Other officials of the district administration, Sadar Upazila Safe Food Inspector and students of various schools were present.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that this mobile food laboratory will provide safe food assurance to the people of Barguna through the results of immediate food testing.
He also said that legal action will be taken based on the results obtained.
District Food Safety Officer Md Elias Mia said, “This mobile laboratory to prevent food adulteration will get immediate results and legal action.
The district food safety officer said, the presence of detergent, starch, urea and antibiotics in milk, presence of lead chromate in turmeric powder, presence of brick powder in chili powder, presence of colors and pesticides in vegetables, fruits and roots, presence of harmful potassium bromate in bread and more. Many test results are available instantly in this mobile laboratory.
He also said that from now on 1-2 days per month this mobile laboratory will travel to Barguna. On the basis of consumer complaints, the authorities will collect food samples from all upazilas and continue the laboratory process
