Lalmonirha- Training of Trainers on Food Safety was conducted to primary school teachers of Lalmonirhat with technical assistance from JICA-STIRC project and grant from Lion Corporation.
Today, on Monday, teachers of government primary schools of the district participated in this day-long training at Munster Restaurant and Party Center in Lalmonirhat city.
According to the World Health Organization, 420,000 people die each year from foodborne illnesses. Everyone should be aware to prevent this unwanted death and disease. Basic skills and knowledge must be spread everywhere to ensure safe and nutritious food.
Speakers said these things at a training on food safety for primary school teachers in Lalmonirhat.
Strengthening the Inspection, Regulatory and Coordinating (STIRC) project of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Bangladesh Safe Food Authority, Bangladesh Safe Food Authority, District Office- Bangladesh Safe Food Authority, District Office- in full cooperation of Directorate of Primary Education and with financial assistance from Lion Corporation, a leading Japanese company in hygiene and health products. Awareness training (ToT) on safe food was organized for primary school teachers by Lalmonirhat.
STIRC project officers provide them with hands-on training. The training included basic concepts of food safety for children, dos and don’ts of food safety, basic hygiene and hand washing. The teachers will impart the knowledge gained in the training to the students in the school classroom.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Director of Policy and Operations Department of Primary Education Department Md. Ataur Rahman, District Primary Education Officer Swapan Kumar Roy Chowdhury, Assistant District Primary Education Officer Rezaunul Haque, Bangladesh Safe Food Authority Director Mohammad Atiqur Rahman Majumdar, Monitoring Officer Mohammad Imran Hossain Molla and District Food Safety Officer Mr. Md. Fazlul Haque, JICA’s Food Safety Awareness Adviser Ms. Asuka Yasuka and Sadia Sharmin.
