On January 13, 2025, the USAID Feed the Future Bangladesh Trade Activity hosted the second
Trade Logistics Job Fair in Khulna, marking a significant milestone in the country’s trade
logistics sector. The event connected leading logistics and trade companies with ambitious
students, paving the way for promising careers in this rapidly growing industry.
The fair featured participation from 25 exhibitors, including renowned industry associations
representing freight forwarders, shipping agents, and clearing and forwarding agents. Over 500
students from Khulna and the surrounding areas attended the event, eager to explore career
opportunities in logistics and supply chain management.
A day-long conference complemented the fair, offering insightful programs for both industry
professionals and aspiring students. The Deputy Chief of Party Mashuk Al Hossain from the
Trade Activity, delivered the opening remarks. Esteemed speaker Kazi Md. Mahfuzur Rahman
from the Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association (BAFFA) shared his expertise, offering
valuable perspectives on the sector’s growth and opportunities. Mr. Mahfuzur expressed, “This
job fair will help to open up career paths to the logistics industry for the youth, opening up a
gateway of opportunities.”
To enlighten the students and the job seekers about the career growth and strategies to enter the
trade logistics sector a session was conducted by the industry experts.Women’s opportunities and
contributions to the industry were discussed in another session dedicated to attracting more
women employees into the industry.
Subsequent sessions on writing CV and interview skills were designed to equip participants with
practical knowledge on the strategies to excel in the recruitment process. It offered insights into
employer expectations, empowering students, and job seekers to better navigate their career
paths.
The Earth, a partner of the USAID BIJOYEE project, provided opportunity for three private
sector organizations to showcase their work. Moreover, The Earth enabled the "Career Compass"
initiativeoffering career guidance to the 150 BIJOYEE graduates who attended the job fair.
The Feed the Future Bangladesh Trade Activity is dedicated to advancing economic growth and
food security in Bangladesh. By improving trade facilitation, enhancing market access, and
strengthening the business environment, the Activity provides technical assistance, training, and
institutional support to the Government of Bangladesh and non-governmental partners. Its efforts
promote collaboration among government, private sector, and civil society organizations to build
a more robust trade and logistics ecosystem.
