Akkelpur – A battery-powered autovan driver named Rabiul Islam (35) died after being hit by a private car in Akkelpur, Joypurhat. He died at 10 pm last Saturday while undergoing treatment at the ICU of Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
The accident occurred at 6 am last Saturday (February 8) at a place called Bhikani on the Akkelpur-Bogra road in the upazila. The deceased, Rabiul Islam, is the son of Abdur Razzak of Awalagarhi Nadirkul village in Rukindipur union of the upazila and a father of two children.
According to family sources, while loading cut mustard into the van on the side of the road at a place called Bhikani on the Akkelpur-Bogra road, a private car leaving from Akkelpur hit the van and the van fell into a ditch on the side of the road. The van driver fell on the road and the private car ran over his feet and fled quickly. Locals brought the van driver to the emergency department of Akkelpur Upazila Health Complex in a seriously injured condition. As his condition deteriorated, the doctor on duty sent him to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. He was kept in the ICU and died at 10 pm last Saturday during treatment.
Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Akkelpur Police Station, confirmed the matter. He said that action will be taken if any complaint is received from the family in this incident.
