Lalmonirhat – The headless housewife’s body was identified 24 hours after it was recovered from a corn field in Lalmonirhat.
SP (Circle) Fazlul Haque confirmed the matter on Thursday (March 6) afternoon.
The deceased housewife has been identified as Hasina Begum (40). She is the second wife of Ashraful, a van driver from Dighaltari village in Durgapur union of Aditmari upazila of the district. Her ancestral home is the daughter of the deceased Kashem Ali of Daribas village in Dinhata subdivision of Cooch Behar district, India.
Police and locals said that the police recovered Hasina’s headless body from a corn field in the Fulgach area of Mogolhat union in Lalmonirhat yesterday (March 5) afternoon. Later today (Thursday), the police raided the housewife’s husband’s house and recovered blood-stained clothes and a battery-powered van. However, the severed head from the body of the deceased housewife could not be recovered. Her husband Ashraful Islam is absconding.
Abdur Razzak Sarkar, UP member of Ward No. 3 of Durgapur Union, said that the husband of the deceased Hasina Begum, Ashraful Islam, is the son of Md. Nabab Ali of Char Kuthirpar village. He also said that the deceased Hasina’s first marriage with Ashraful ended in divorce with one daughter. Later, she got married for the second time to a man named Nur Islam of Dighaltari village. There too, she had one daughter, left the family of her second husband and returned to her first husband, and had another daughter. When asked about the reason for Hasina’s murder, he said that there could be a family feud, money, and drugs.
Additional Superintendent of Police (A Circle) Fazlul Haque said that efforts are underway to unravel the mystery of the murder and arrest the accused. Hopefully, the case will be settled soon with the arrest of the accused.
