Bablu Ranjan Biswas, Kushtia: To establish a people’s government, elections must be held quickly. During the tenure of fascist Sheikh Hasina, 153 MPs were elected without a vote in 2014. In 2018, she repeatedly took away people’s voting rights by holding day and night elections and established Baksal. In an attempt to permanently consolidate her power, Hasina filed cases of disappearance against millions of BNP leaders and activists, sending them to jail. She has disappeared thousands of BNP leaders and activists, including BNP leader Ilyas Ali. Hasina should be severely tried for these misdeeds.
On Sunday afternoon, in his speech as the chief guest at the Chithlia Union BNP conference under Mirpur Upazila, former MP of Kushtia-2 (Mirpur-Bheramara) constituency, former president of the district BNP and one of the members of the BNP National Executive Committee, freedom fighter Alhaj Professor Shahidul Islam said these things.
Regarding the development of Mirpur and Bheramara, he said, all the development that has taken place in these two upazilas has been done by my hands during the BNP’s time. All the unpaved roads in the area have been paved during my time. In addition, the MPO and academic buildings of most educational institutions have been built by my hands. Shahidul Islam also said that we have to learn from the arrogance and fall of the dictator Hasina. Calling the statement of Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on the election as ‘vague’, he demanded a clear roadmap for the election immediately.
Mirpur Upazila BNP convener Ashrafuzzaman Shaheen inaugurated the conference. Speaking at the event were Mirpur Upazila BNP member secretary Rahmat Ali Rabban, municipal BNP convener Abdur Rashid, upazila BNP joint convener Mahbub Alam Harchan, Enamul Haque Babu, Abzal Hossain, Nur Al Amin Bulbul, Billal Hossain, former municipal BNP general secretary Ibrahim Ali, municipal BNP member secretary Azadur Rahman Azad Biswas, joint convener Hafizur Rahman Babu, upazila Juba Dal convener Sultan Ali, former upazila BNP office secretary Marfat Afridi, and others.
Also present were various leaders of upazila BNP, municipal BNP, union BNP and allied organizations.
After the conference, the biennial committee of Chithlia Union BNP was formed with Golap Ali Member as president, Rafiqul Islam Lalon as senior vice president, Abdullahel Baki as general secretary, and Jihad Ali and Monirul Islam as joint general secretaries.
