Bablu Ranjan Biswas, Kushtia.. A smuggler was arrested with 12 gold bars in a BGB operation in Kushtia.
On Tuesday, at around 12 noon, at a place called Kharijathak Math, 300 yards north of the border pillar 157/3-S in the area under the responsibility of Charchilmari BOP in Daulatpur upazila of the district, 10 yards from the zero line inside Bangladesh, under the leadership of Nayek Shahjalal of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB), an anti-smuggling operation was conducted and Ropan Mondal (42) was arrested with 12 gold bars. He is the son of the deceased Sudhir Mondal of Ramzan Beg village in Sadar upazila of Munshiganj district. The commander of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) Lt. Colonel Mahbub Murshed Rahman confirmed the incident and said that the weight of the 12 recovered gold bars is approximately 1 kg 340 grams. The value of which is 1 crore 98 lakh 22 thousand 620 taka. According to the rules, the arrested accused has been handed over to Daulatpur Police Station after filing a case and the recovered gold has been deposited in the Kushtia District Treasury Office.
