Shibchar, Madaripur :: An unidentified person tragically died after being crushed by a train in Shibchar, Madaripur. The person’s head was severed in the accident and his body was torn into four parts.
The accident occurred near Padma Railway Station in Sikder Kandi area of Shibchar upazila at around 9:30 am on Saturday. The name and identity of the deceased are not yet known.
Locals said that a man, approximately 50 years old, died after being crushed under the Bhanga-bound ‘Jahanara Express’ train that left Dhaka from Dhaka. It is believed that he fell under the train inadvertently while crossing the railway line.
The deceased was wearing a black rubber glove, thick clothes and old jeans. Locals also said that the man was occasionally seen roaming around various roads including the railway line in the Panchchar area, and that he is believed to be a mentally unstable person.
A sub-inspector of Rajbari Railway Police Station said that after receiving information, the police reached the spot and recovered the body. Necessary steps are being taken to identify him.
