Kushtia Correspondent. Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a drum truck and a motorcycle on the Kushtia-Meherpur road. Two more were injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
On Tuesday afternoon, a drum truck carrying sand and two motorcycles collided head-on at a place called Jogipole, adjacent to the Mirpur BGB sector on the Kushtia-Meherpur regional road. Two of the four injured in the accident died while undergoing treatment.
The deceased are Rabbi (35), son of Farid Uddin, of Mangalbaria area of Sadar upazila of Kushtia, and Tushar (42), son of Bablu, of the same area. In addition, two others named Prashant and Parimal were injured in the incident.
According to local and police sources, a drum truck carrying sand from Kushtia to Meherpur and two motorcycles heading to Kushtia from Meherpur collided head-on at a place called Jogipole, 100 yards east of the Mirpur BGB sector. A motorcycle was crushed and caught fire in an instant. Mirpur Fire Service members immediately arrived and brought the fire under control on the motorcycle that had caught fire. Later, locals rescued the injured and brought them to the Upazila Health Complex. When their condition deteriorated there, they were shifted to Kushtia General Hospital for better treatment. Later, two people named Tushar and Rabbi died at Kushtia General Hospital while undergoing treatment. It is also known that two are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Confirming the incident, Mirpur Police Station OC Mominul Islam said, four people were injured in the head-on collision between a motorcycle and a drum truck. Later, we received information that two died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Currently, the drum truck is in police custody.
