Kushtia Correspondent :: An anti-corruption debate competition was held in Mirpur, Kushtia. The debate competition was held at the Upazila Auditorium on Thursday afternoon under the initiative of the Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee and in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Commission Integrated District Office.
Mirpur Government Girls High School won the debate competition on the topic of “Corruption spreads due to lack of patriotism and values”. Amla Sadarpur Secondary School was the runner-up. Amla Sadarpur Secondary School team leader Mehnaz Tamanna Mahi was selected as the best speaker in the competition.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Tamannaz Khandaker, Chithlia Sagarkhali Adarsha Degree College Principal Rabiul Islam served as the judges in the debate competition. Mirpur Pilot High School Headmaster Firoz Ali served as the moderator.
After the competition, Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President Nazrul Karim presided over the prize distribution ceremony, with Upazila Executive Officer Nazmul Islam as the chief guest.
The special guests were Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission Integrated District Office Bulbul Ahmed, Deputy Director Shahidur Rahman, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury, and Press Club President Marfat Afridi. Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee Vice-President Nargis Akhtar, members Rasheduzzaman Rimon, Firoz Ahmed, Majid Joarddar, and others were present at the event.
