Fines amounting to Tk 4 lakh were imposed, and electricity connections to the factories were disconnected. In a separate operation in Mymensingh, approximately 2 tons of polythene were seized by RAB.

Additionally, on the night of 13 August, drives were conducted in several areas of Dhaka. Meanwhile, a meeting was held in Barishal on “Stopping the Use of Polythene and Single-Use Plastics.” Environment Secretary Dr. Farhina Ahmed attended the meeting as the chief guest and stated that, alongside the government, business communities and civil society must come forward to combat polythene, which poses a serious threat to the environment, biodiversity, and public health.
