Kushtia :; A human chain and protest rally have been held in Mirpur, Kushtia to protest the terrorist attack on journalist and demand the arrest and punishment of the attacker, notorious terrorist Milon Hossain and his associates.
Mirpur Press Club Joint General Secretary Firoz Ahmed was attacked by 5-6 people led by notorious terrorist Milon Hossain on the morning of August 11 while he was on his way from his home to offer Fajr prayers at the mosque. Later, with the help of local people, his family members rescued him in a life-threatening condition and admitted him first to the Upazila Health Complex, Kushtia General Hospital and to the Trauma Hospital in Shyamoli in the capital for advanced treatment. In protest of this incident, a human chain and protest rally was held at the Eagle Square in Mirpur Bazar on Wednesday afternoon with the participation of people from all walks of life at the initiative of Mirpur Press Club.
Under the chairmanship of Press Club President Marfat Afridi and under the direction of General Secretary Rasheduzzaman Rimon, the speeches were delivered by former commander of Upazila Muktijoddha Command Nazrul Karim, vice-president of Kushtia Press Club Mizanur Rahman Lucky, president of District Nationalist Journalist Forum Shamsul Alam Swapan, former president of Mirpur Press Club Bablu Ranjan Biswas, Asadur Rahman Babu, former convener Humayun Kabir Himu, organizing secretary Kudrate Khoda Sabuj, president of Alo Sangstha Professor Anwar Hossain, district representative of Independent Television Milan Ullah, member of Kushtia Press Club Habibur Rahman, former president of Amla Press Club Mamunul Islam Jhantu, etc. Teachers, journalists, NGO representatives, businessmen and indigenous people participated in the event. The speakers in the human chain demanded immediate arrest of terrorist Milan Hossain and his associates and exemplary punishment.
