Madaripur :: An imam was killed in a motorcycle accident on Monday morning in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 37, son of the late Hakim Ali Hawlader of Bashkandi area. He had been serving as the imam of a mosque in Panchgram under Bashkandi Union.
According to family and local sources, Abdur Rahman set out from his home early in the morning to lead the Fajr prayer. While riding along the Bashkandi-Shekhpur regional road in Dakshin Bashkandi area, he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a tree. He sustained a severe head injury in the collision.
Locals rushed him to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Confirming the incident, Shibchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Rakibul Islam said the body was handed over to the family as no complaint was filed.
