Bablu Ranjan Biswas, Kushtia.. BGB arrests 2 in separate operation in Kushtia and recovers drugs.
Late on Friday night, BGB members led by Naib Subedar Md. Shawkat Hossain conducted an operation and arrested Md. Rabbi Hossain (20), son of Hanif Hossain of Pakuria village of the upazila, and Anik Hossain (18), son of Imdadul Haque of Mahishkundi village, along with three bottles, liquor, ganja and leaf bidis. As part of the ongoing operation, a special team of Battalion Sadar led by 47 BGB Government Director Zakirul Islam searched a Dhaka-bound JR transport leaving from Meherpur on the Kushtia-Meherpur main road and seized 400 kg of illegal current nets.
On the other hand, on the evening of August 23, 960 pieces of sildenafil tablets and 450 kg of illegal current nets were recovered from the border pillar 81/1 S of Udaynagar BOP on the side of the Padma river under the leadership of Naib Subedar. The estimated value of the total recovered goods is 36 lakh 93 thousand 8’10 taka. As per the rules, the arrested accused have been handed over to Daulatpur Police Station along with the narcotics and other goods and the process of depositing the seized narcotics and current nets in the battalion store for burning and destruction is under process.
In this regard, Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Mahbub Morshed confirmed the truth of the incident and said that Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) is in a strict position to ensure border security and prevent all types of illegal activities including drug trafficking. The arrest of the accused along with the narcotics in the recent operation is a reflection of the anti-narcotics and smuggling activities. BGB will continue its strict and effective operations to eradicate such crimes in the future as well.
