Strengthening Sports Can Eliminate Social Disparities

Chattogram ::  Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Assistant Organizing Secretary of the National Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for Chattogram Division and member of the ad-hoc committee of the Chattogram District Sports Association, said that “Football is one of the most popular sports in the world. To bring this beloved game to the grassroots level of Bangladesh, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has initiated a series of time-befitting programs. Following his directives, we are continuing similar activities in Hathazari.”

He added, “All conscious citizens must realize that by strengthening the sporting culture, we can eliminate social inequalities and build a more cohesive society.”

Barrister Helal Uddin made these remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony of the Final Match of the Syed Masud Ullah Master Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament 2025, held yesterday at 4:00 pm at the Hathazari upazila field. The event was organized by Mirzapure Players’ Welfare Association, the only club in Hathazari recognized by the Chattogram District Football Association, under the chairmanship of the organization’s former president and Chairman of “Alokito Hathazari Unnayan Forum,” Syed Mostafa Alam Masum.

Among the special guests were:
Alhaj Nur Mohammad, Convenor of Hathazari Upazila BNP; Muhammad Selim Chairman, Joint Convenor; Muhammad Aminul Islam, Member of the Central JASAS Convening Committee; Muhammad Abdur Razzaq, former Vice President of Chattogram Metropolitan Jubo Dal and Private Prison Inspector; Atikul Islam, Head Teacher of Mirzapure High School; S.M. Faruq Hossain, former leader of District BNP; Sakhawat Hossain Shimul, Joint Secretary of North Chattogram Jubo Dal; Advocate Riyad, Joint Convenor of Hathazari Municipality BNP; Monirul Islam Jony, former General Secretary of North Chattogram Chhatra Dal; Muhammad Takibul Hasan Taki, President of District Chhatra Dal; Muhammad Saiful Islam Tutul, President of District JASAS; Syed Abdul Jabbar, Convenor of Mirzapure Union BNP; and Muhammad Salahuddin Ali, Convenor of Nangal Mora Union BNP.

The program was conducted by Muhammad Ishaq Mia, President of Mirzapure Players’ Welfare Association, and Joint Secretary Iftikhar Hossain Jony.

Anwar Hossain Ujjal, Joint Convenor of District Krishak Dal; Muhammad Shahadat Osman, Convenor of Upazila Krishak Dal; Muhammad Yakub Member, Member Secretary of Mirzapure Union BNP; Muhammad Nasim Member, General Secretary of Dhalai Union BNP; Uttam Kumar Das, Joint Convenor of Hathazari Upazila Krishak Dal; social worker Abul Kalam Manik; Muhammad Parvez Talukder, Joint Convenor of Mirzapure Union BNP; Maulana Nasir Ahmad, Convenor of Hathazari Upazila Olama Dal; Muhammad Jahangir Alam, Convenor of Mirzapure Union Jubo Dal; Muhammad Morshedul Alam, Member Secretary; Syed Shahinul Haque Shahed, Haji Abul Bashar; Muhammad Nurul Alam, Convenor of the Tournament Disciplinary Committee; and Muhammad Rabiul Hossain Robi, Member Secretary.

In the final match, the Late Haji Badiur Rahman Company Memorial Football XI defeated Najirhat Tarun Samaj Kalyan Sangha Football XI in a tie-breaker to become the champion.

Most Disciplined Team: Talukdar Para Football XI

Best Player: Muhammad Azim

Best Goalkeeper: Muhammad Sajib

Best Emerging Player: Md. Shahed

Top Scorer: Jobayer

Man of the Final: Goalkeeper Suman

The chief guest, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, personally awarded Tk. 10,000 each to both the champion and runner-up teams. The tournament committee also awarded the champion team Tk. 25,000 in cash along with a trophy and medals, while the runner-up team received Tk. 15,000, a trophy, and medals.

It is noteworthy that 16 strong teams from across North Chattogram participated in this grand football tournament.
