Chattogram :: Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Assistant Organizing Secretary of the National Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for Chattogram Division and member of the ad-hoc committee of the Chattogram District Sports Association, said that “Football is one of the most popular sports in the world. To bring this beloved game to the grassroots level of Bangladesh, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has initiated a series of time-befitting programs. Following his directives, we are continuing similar activities in Hathazari.”
He added, “All conscious citizens must realize that by strengthening the sporting culture, we can eliminate social inequalities and build a more cohesive society.”
Barrister Helal Uddin made these remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony of the Final Match of the Syed Masud Ullah Master Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament 2025, held yesterday at 4:00 pm at the Hathazari upazila field. The event was organized by Mirzapure Players’ Welfare Association, the only club in Hathazari recognized by the Chattogram District Football Association, under the chairmanship of the organization’s former president and Chairman of “Alokito Hathazari Unnayan Forum,” Syed Mostafa Alam Masum.

In the final match, the Late Haji Badiur Rahman Company Memorial Football XI defeated Najirhat Tarun Samaj Kalyan Sangha Football XI in a tie-breaker to become the champion.

The chief guest, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, personally awarded Tk. 10,000 each to both the champion and runner-up teams. The tournament committee also awarded the champion team Tk. 25,000 in cash along with a trophy and medals, while the runner-up team received Tk. 15,000, a trophy, and medals.
It is noteworthy that 16 strong teams from across North Chattogram participated in this grand football tournament.
