Golam Mawla:: A colorful rally and discussion meeting were organized in Shibchar, Madaripur, on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day. The event took place on Sunday (November 9) afternoon, led by Sajjad Hossain Lavlu Siddiqui, joint convener of the Madaripur District BNP.
The grand rally started from the Shibchar Upazila Ekattor Chattar and paraded through the main roads of the town before concluding at Swadhinata Chattar, where a brief assembly was held.
Earlier, from around 4 p.m., BNP leaders and activists from various unions and wards of the municipality gathered at Ekattor Chattar in small processions. With drums beating, banners waving, and festoons fluttering, the participants joined the colorful rally in a festive spirit under the leadership of Sajjad Hossain Lavlu Siddiqui.
Speakers at the assembly highlighted the historical significance and importance of National Revolution and Solidarity Day. They said the day stands as a milestone in the democratic history of Bangladesh — a symbol of the movement to protect the nation’s independence, sovereignty, and democracy under the leadership of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
They further stated that in the current political context, all pro-democracy forces must unite to restore democracy and the people’s right to vote. The speakers also demanded that Sajjad Hossain Lavlu Siddiqui be nominated as the BNP candidate for the Madaripur-1 constituency in the upcoming national elections.
In his brief address, Sajjad Hossain Lavlu Siddiqui said, National Revolution and Solidarity Day symbolizes our struggle to restore democracy. Inspired by the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, we will stand united to safeguard democracy. I have always stood by the people in difficult times. Despite oppression and persecution, I have remained with the party — and I always will. The people love me, and I will continue to stand beside them.”
Local leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations, along with people from various walks of life, attended the program.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge from all participants to remain united in the ongoing movement to protect democracy.
