Haladhar Das, Narsingdi:: On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, new clothes have been distributed among helpless and underprivileged street children in Narsingdi. On Saturday (March 14) afternoon, the social organization Alokit Narsingdi organized the distribution of these clothes among more than a hundred street children at the Narsingdi Municipal Park.
Former Principal of Narsingdi Government College Professor Golam Mustafa Mia was present as the chief guest at the program organized under the chairmanship of the organization’s president Abdullah Al Mamun Russell. Former Principal Professor Mohammad Ali, former Principal Professor Kalam Mahmud, Principal of Narsingdi Independent College Dr. were also present at the time. Mashiur Rahman Mridha, Vice President of Narsingdi Press Club District Sujan Editor Haladhar Das, Director of Narsingdi Diabetic Hospital Hasanat Bin Russell, Painter Swapan Kumar Das, President of Narsingdi Volunteer Organization Mahabubur Rahman Monir and Chairman of Charmadhua Union Parishad Ahsan Sikder, and various social and cultural personalities were present.
The speakers at the event highlighted the importance of the rights, protection and healthcare of street children and said that it is everyone’s moral responsibility to stand by the helpless and disadvantaged children of the society. Wealthy and conscious people of the society need to come forward to spread the joy of Eid among everyone.
Later, the guests handed over new Eid clothes to about a hundred street children. The children were happy to receive the new clothes. Abdullah Al Mamun Russell, Founding President of Alokot Narsingdi, said that he has been working with helpless and mobile children since his student days.
To provide them with primary education, a mobile school is run twice a week in Narsingdi Municipal Park. They are also given quality food on various occasions including Eid. He also said that they are happy to bring smiles to the faces of street children by distributing new clothes on the occasion of Eid. Such humanitarian activities will continue in the future.
