Thakurgaon District Officials-employees observed several demands including purchase and supply of low-quality goods by Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, artificial shortage of necessary goods and manpower. After the hour-long human chain in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Soleman Ali issued a memorandum to the Chief Advisor. General Manager of Thakurgaon Palli Vidyut Samiti Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, AGM Md. Bachchu Mia, Md. Ataur Rahman, Md. Bayezid Hossain Shah, Md. Mahmudul Hasan Mehedi etc. spoke during the human chain organized by Thakurgaon Palli Vidyut Samiti. At that time more than hundred officers and employees were present. Later, through Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Soleman Ali, a memorandum containing several demands was submitted to the Chief Adviser. Speakers said that the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board has been harassing the employees of Palli Vidyut Samiti by providing misleading information at customer level including purchasing and supplying low-quality goods, creating artificial shortage of necessary goods and manpower. Regularization of all non-regular, contract based jobs including uninterrupted power supply to consumers. Thakurgaon Palli bidyut Samity officials said that if the demand is not implemented soon, a strict program will be announced.
