BSS – Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry Nasimul Ghani today said the joint forces’ “Operation Devil Hunt” is aimed at arresting those trying to make the country unstable.

“Our target is to neutralise the pockets from where attempts are being made to destabilise the country…. The operation will continue as long as necessary,” he said while replying to a question in a press briefing over the “Operation Devil Hunt” at the conference room of the Home Ministry at the Secretariat here.

He said they have briefed all the forces so that they can carry out the operation in a focused way by maintaining the law and order and protecting the human rights.

Replying to a question, he said police will lead the Operation Devil Hunt.

“It is a police action,” he said, adding that the military which was given magistracy power after August 5 changeover, will act to help maintaining the law and order.

The Home Adviser stressed the need for protecting the human rights during the operation.

“We have to work with the spirit of the law. We’re trying to motivate all the law enforcers to follow the laws with special focus on protecting the human rights,” he said.

Ghani said they are trying to ensure good practices in the government system to give the future generation a better Bangladesh.

“We’re working so that no Aynaghar is created in future and the people who are working in our system can work properly,” he said.

The Home Secretary said they are going to hold a workshop on protection of human rights as well as environment with 150 representatives from the law enforcement agencies, district magistrates and prosecution of the Dhaka Metropolis and Gazipur Metropolis on February 11.

He said they will hold meetings with all across the country in a month.

Replying to a question, Ghani said the defeated forces of a revolution would never be protected in any country.

“But, we can’t be so cruel,” he said.

Replying to another question, he said that they are trying to motivate the police force morally.

“We’re counselling the police force actively so that they can do something effectively,” he said.

He, however, declined to comment on the number of arrestees in the Operation David Hunt that started Saturday.

Replying to a question, he said a deputy inspector general (DIG) of police and three police supers were arrested prior to the start of the ‘Operation Devil Hunt’.
