Bablu Ranjan Biswas, Kushtia :: BGB has recovered illegal electricity and narcotics in separate operations in Kushtia. The recovered goods include 90 bottles of Indian liquor, 2 kg of marijuana and 4,000 kg of electricity.
At 6 am on Tuesday, BGB members led by Naib Jiban Kumar Mitra conducted a drive and recovered 40 bottles of Indian liquor from Pillar 85/1-S of Chalishpara BOP in Daulatpur upazila and 40 bottles of Indian liquor from Chalishpara Math in the upazila. On the same day, at 10 am, under the leadership of Havildar Mokhlesur, 2 kg of marijuana was recovered from Khasmahal area, 40 yards away from Pillar 138/1 S of Rangmahal area in the upazila.
On the other hand, at 4:30 pm on Monday, a joint operation by the BGB and the upazila administration was conducted and 4,000 kg of illegal current nets were recovered from a Benapole-bound Royal Express that left Sirajganj from Bheramara Upazila Highway.
The estimated value of the total seized goods is Tk 161,042,000.
The current nets were burned and destroyed as per the rules and the process of depositing the narcotics in the battalion store is under process.
In this regard, the Battalion Commander of 47 BGB, Lt. Col. Md. Mahbub Morshed confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) is in a strict position to ensure border security and prevent all types of illegal activities including drug trafficking. The recently conducted operation is a reflection of the anti-narcotics and anti-smuggling activities. BGB’s strict and effective operation will continue in the future to eradicate such crimes.
