Banking hours have been revised in observance of the holy month of Ramadan. Under the new schedule, effective from Thursday, customer transactions at all banks across the country will continue until 2:30 PM. The directive has been issued by Bangladesh Bank.
According to the central bank’s announcement, during Ramadan customers will be able to conduct transactions at bank counters from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Although customer services will end at 2:30 PM, banks will continue their official operations until 4:00 PM. The same schedule will apply to Bangladesh Bank and all scheduled banks. During this time, interbank settlements and other necessary administrative tasks must be completed.
Trading hours for the stock market have also been adjusted for Ramadan. Under the revised schedule, trading will take place from 10:00 AM to 1:50 PM. There will be a break for Zuhr prayers from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM.
Bangladesh Bank stated that once Ramadan ends, office and transaction hours for banks and financial institutions will return to the previous schedule. As in previous years, the revised timing has been set considering the convenience of fasting customers and employees.
