Abul Hossain:: A three-member delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bangladesh Md. Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters on Monday (August 3).
The delegation was led by ICRC Head of Delegation Nicolas Fleury.
During the meeting, the head of the delegation praised the outstanding role of Bangladesh Police in providing legal assistance to Rohingyas in Rohingya camps in Bangladesh.
He highlighted the ICRC’s continued support for various training programs for police members, including human rights and first aid, in accordance with international standards to increase public confidence.
The IGP appreciated the initiatives taken by the ICRC in various ongoing training and capacity building programs of the Bangladesh Police. He emphasized the importance of increasing ICRC’s support in building the capacity of police members to deal with national disasters.
Senior police officials were present during the meeting.
