Lalmonirhat :: A youth rally was held in Lalmonirhat under the slogan ‘End violence against women, give women the respect they deserve’.
The day-long rally was organized by the non-governmental organization Family Income Development Association (FIDA) at the District Council Auditorium on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner Muha. Rashedul Haque Pradhan was present as the chief guest at the rally. Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman, District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque and Deputy Director of the Youth Development Department Abdus Salam Sikder were special guests.
At the rally chaired by FIDA Executive Director Firoza Begum, speakers said that it is important to not only enforce laws but also raise awareness at all levels of the family and society to prevent violence against women. They especially called on the youth to speak out against violence against women and abuse.
The rally discussed various forms of violence against women, its causes and ways to prevent it. In addition, emphasis was placed on socially collective initiatives to ensure the safety of women and girls and their rights and respect. People from different classes and professions, including representatives of the youth community, were present at the event.
