Dumki (Patuakhali):: A workshop titled “Bridging Academia and Industry: Fostering Innovation, Collaboration, and Mutual Development” was held at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU). The event took place on Saturday (October 10) at 11:00 AM in the university’s TSC Conference Hall.Professor Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun, a member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, attended the event as the chief guest, with the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. S.M. Hemayet Jahan, presiding over the ceremony.
Special guests included Professor Dr. Mamun-or-Rashid, Vice-Chancellor of Barishal University, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Chhabirul Islam Howlader, Vice-Chancellor of Pirojpur University of Science and Technology.Professor Dr. Engineer Muhammad Iqbal, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), and Professor Dr. Mohammad Atiqur Rahman, Treasurer of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU).
The event will feature discussions on research, innovation, skill development, technology transfer, and industry linkages, alongside an exchange of views on the perspectives of the youth, with the participation of students. Simultaneously, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed between HSTU and several leading industrial enterprises. University authorities anticipate that this initiative will open up new horizons for institutional partnerships in research, innovation, and skill development.
MoUs have already been signed with Olympic Industries, Refco Pharmaceuticals, and Khan Shafiq Rahman & Co., while agreements with several other companies are currently in the pipeline. Representatives from Bayer CropScience, Azmat Group, Grameen Jan Unnayan Sangstha, Renata PLC, Save the Children, Jago Nari, The World Bank Group, Caritas Bangladesh, Kemin, Renata Animal Health, Lal Teer Seed Ltd., Nestlé Bangladesh, Amrita Consumer Food Products, Refco Pharmaceuticals, BRAC Seed and Agro Enterprise, PRAN-RFL Group, Olympic Industries, Agriplus, and Khan Wahab Shafique Rahman & Co.
Bangladesh were present at today’s event. He stated that such initiatives for the welfare of students would be further expanded in the future. Effective collaboration between academia and the industry will pave the way for the practical application of research findings and create new opportunities for technology transfer. He also believes that this initiative will play a significant role in fostering a long-term and fruitful partnership between the university and industrial enterprises.
