Md. Sanaullah Riyad, Barguna:: A total of 1,18,696 children aged 6 to 59 months in six upazilas and one municipality of Barguna will be fed one Vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsule each. The national Vitamin ‘A’ Plus campaign will start from June 28 this year.
During the campaign, each child aged 6-11 months will be fed one blue colored Vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsule and each child aged 12-59 months will be fed one red colored Vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsule.
An information meeting and press briefing on the occasion of the National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign was held at the ‘Subarna Jayanti’ Hall Room of the Barguna Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Sunday (June 21) at around 11 am with the heads of various government and private organizations of the district and local media personnel, in the implementation of the National Nutrition Service, Public Health Nutrition Institute, Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and organized by the Barguna District Administration and Civil Surgeon’s Office.
The information meeting and press briefing organized on the occasion of the National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign was addressed as the chief guest by Barguna Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Ms. Taslima Akhter.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Abul Fattah presided over the meeting, while District Council Administrator Md. Nazrul Islam Molla, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Animesh Biswas, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ruhul Amin Howlader were present as special guests.
During this time, various media workers including Press Club President Md. Hafizur Rahman, General Secretary Abu Zafar Md. Saleh and others spoke on various questions related to the campaign.
The Civil Surgeon presented a documentary film with still images related to Vitamin ‘A’ through this program.
At the same time, according to a paper containing information from the Civil Surgeon’s Office, 457 health workers and 1,445 volunteers will be on duty at 951 centers in one municipality and six upazilas in Barguna during the campaign.
Vitamin ‘A’ plus capsules will be administered at the centers from 8 am to 4 pm on that day. The Health Department has taken the initiative to administer Vitamin ‘A’ plus capsules in special arrangements in char areas and remote areas.
