Moshiur Rahman Khan:: An Iftar and prayer mahfil was organized by the Banasree Aftabnagar Press Club in honor of underprivileged children and Islamic scholars, seeking the eternal peace of the departed soul of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. The program was held on Saturday (March 14) in the afternoon at the auditorium of Banasree Press Club in the capital. People from different walks of life, political leaders, journalists, and many local dignitaries attended the event.
Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, MP, former private secretary to the former Prime Minister and special assistant to Begum Khaleda Zia, joined the program as the chief guest through a video call. In his speech, he said that the holy month of Ramadan is a time for self-purification, compassion, and the awakening of human values. Standing beside the underprivileged is the real lesson of this sacred month. He also mentioned that such humanitarian initiatives play an important role in strengthening harmony and empathy in society.
Among the special guests were prominent social worker and businessman Alhaj Moazzem Hossain; Kazi Shah Alam Raza, Convener of Dhaka North unit of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal; Member Secretary Kamrul Zaman; Joint Convener of Khilgaon Thana BNP Jamilur Rahman Nayan; noted social worker and businessman Alhaj Zakir Hossain; Saidun Bashir Ripon; Press Club Adviser Iqbal Khan Zahid; social worker AKM Khaled Saiful Bulbul; Salauddin Bepari; and Sajedul Islam, Chairman of Sanji Group of Companies, among others.
The program was presided over by Mosleh Uddin Bablu Pandit, President of the Banasree Aftabnagar Press Club. The event was conducted by the General Secretary of the Press Club, Johurul Islam, while the overall coordination was managed by the Organizational Secretary, Zahirul Islam Russell. Senior member of the Press Club Moshiur Rahman Khan presented the program. The Holy Qur’an was recited by Shahrum Suryam.
Before Iftar, a special prayer was offered for the peace and prosperity of the nation, the well-being of the Muslim Ummah, and for the eternal peace of the departed soul of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Later, Iftar items were distributed among underprivileged children and Islamic scholars.
All members of the Banasree Aftabnagar Press Club and many respected local residents were present at the event. The organizers said that the main objective of the program was to stand beside the helpless and underprivileged people of society and that they would continue such humanitarian activities in the future.
