Akkelpur – Miscreants set fire to three farmers’ haystacks in Akkelpur, Joypurhat. The incident took place in Chenchuria village of the upazila on Monday night.
Locals said that marginal farmers Shajahan Ali, Abdus Sobhan and Rojaul Karim used paddy to make haystacks in the threshing floor next to their house as cattle feed. The miscreants set fire to the three stacks at night, and before they realized the matter in the morning, all three stacks were burnt to ashes.
Farmer Shajahan Ali said that haystacks belonging to me and three others were kept in an empty threshing floor next to the house. When I woke up in the morning, I saw that all the haystacks had been burnt to ashes.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Akkelpur Police Station Anisur Rahman said that no one had made any written complaint to me about the fire in the farmer’s haystack. Action will be taken against the culprits after investigation if a complaint is received.
