Akkelpur Correspondent – In Akkelpur of Joypurhat, the teachers of secondary level private schools and madrassas have given a memorandum to the education advisor by forming a human chain to demand the nationalization of private educational institutions, stop the posting of government teachers in education administration and formation of education reform commission to eliminate discrimination at the secondary level of education. At 11 o’clock on Tuesday, they went down to the main road in front of the Upazila Parishad to collect their demands. More than three hundred teachers of the upazila participated in the human chain. The teachers said that the class activities have continued on a limited scale during the human chain.
Human bonding teachers said that 97 percent of secondary level institutions are private educational institutions. It is very important to nationalize these institutions. Same educational qualification, teaching same books, same board examination but with public and private name has created huge disparity in financial and social status which is a major hindrance in improving the quality of education. Nationalization of secondary education is the vital demand of all stakeholders of education. Two important subjects of education department are academic and administrative.
Speaking at the time, the president of the Upazila Teachers’ Association, the headmaster of Kashira High School, Md. Siddiqur Rahman Talukder, General Secretary Sonamukhi High School Principal Abdur Rahman and Akkelpur Pilot Girls High School Principal Abdul Momin, Senior Madrasa Teacher Mehdi Hasan, Gopinathpur Girls High School Teacher Rafiqul Islam Apu.
According to the memorandum, the teachers are proficient in academic work. All their training is focused on education. They are good at teaching and learning in the class room. On the other hand, all training of upazila secondary education officers with 31 years of experience in education administration is administrative. Teaching and administration are of different character, different characteristics, different types of work, different practices or practices. If the teachers are inexperienced in administration, they are appointed to the posts of district education officers and deputy directors, there will be a teacher vacancy in government secondary schools, similarly, if a teacher with experience in class room teaching is appointed to the said posts, the office experience is due to lack of prior knowledge of various rules and regulations. Completed subordinates should be guided by advice. They have difficulty in taking strong administrative decisions. Apart from this, if the senior teachers of government secondary schools are posted as upazila secondary education officers, the principals of private secondary schools and madrasas will have to work under administratively inexperienced senior teachers, which may cause extreme dissatisfaction and chaos in the education sector. For that reason, the promotion and posting of upazila secondary education officers with 31 years of experience in education administration in the secondary branches of the upazila, district, region and secondary and higher education departments, the transfer of skilled, experienced and trained manpower to the revenue sector of the CESP project to work in the field administration of education is incomplete. They demand to complete the work quickly.
President of Upazila Teachers’ Association and Headmaster of Kashira High School. Siddiqur Rahman Talukder said, we are employed in the same position and we have been discriminated financially with the name of public and private. We are paid Rs 1000 as house rent. But nowhere in the country can you get house rent for this money. A bonus of 25 percent of the basic salary is given. With which we can do nothing. So nationalization should be done to remove all discrimination. So we are leaving the school and forming human bonds on the road to collect the demand.
Abdur Rahman, head teacher of Sonamukhi High School, said that extreme discrimination has been prevailing in secondary education for a long time. Nationalization is the only solution to advance education and eliminate all disparities. We are doing human bonding to meet the demands by running classes with limited number of teachers.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Monjurul Alam said that private teachers have given a memorandum to eliminate discrimination at the secondary level. We will forward the memorandum to the appropriate authorities.
